Little Econ Greenway Trail
Living in such a beautiful location like Central Florida, there are numerous ways to enjoy the gorgeous outdoors. Trail riding provides not only the opportunity to take in the wonder of nature and the entire wilderness experience, but is also a wonderful workout. I haven’t ridden in years but lately I’ve had an itch to get back into it. Why not?! I spent countless hours indoors and on planes… it’s a win-win. So today I ventured out on my first ride in years and I decided to ride the Little Econ Trail. It’s an easy starter trail and I’ve heard its 4.6-miles is lined of planted trees, picnic-benches, the flowing Econ river and wildlife. Well… it is… sorta. I grew up in Louisiana and I have to say I’ve seen better trails. Even short ones But with that said, it was a good starter trail get me back into the “ride” of things. It allows for a brief escape from the suburban sprawl that is Orlando. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do the 9+ mile ride with little ache (considering I just took up Salsa Classes this week along with my 10K training – I wasn’t so sure) and the ride was a beautiful way to start my Saturday morning. The trail wasn’t overcrowded but there were lots of other bikers, joggers, walkers and fisherman along the way. My favorite part were the many rabbits along the trail… just sitting there eating their breakfast as if this was a perfectly normal part of their day. The Little Econ Trail, located one mile north of State Road 50 on Dean Road and can be accessed via Blanchard Park I’d definitely recommend it if you’re wanting to get into trail riding.
