Dragonfly Modern Izakaya & Sushi
Yes... can you believe it? There was a sushi restaurant in Orlando that I had 1.) never heard of and 2.) never been to before. By the end of 2010 I'm convinced that will never happen again. LOL
Anyway, as usual, a good friend told me about Dragonfly... a new sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese tapas style dining. They serve sushi, sashimi and robatayaki with a full sake bar in an informal lounge atmosphere. Dragonfly "strives to reach an emotional enlightenment through the balance of the Sensual, Spiritual and Savory philosophy." With all that being said... here is the skinny on this new place. It's ok. The atmosphere is a little "light"... not so sensual when the lights are so bright that I feel as if I'm in "high-def". The sushi was good... but sorta bland. The edamame was odd... I like it steaming in sea salt. These had the lovely addition of spice (think Tony Sachere spice) which was just strange. Now the miso soup... that was yummy. Clams were an interesting but welcome addition to this old favorite. The bill was the big surprise... I mean really?! Three people for sushi at $150 total!? Yeah... very pricey. I'll stick with Amura down the street.
