Geminid Meteor Shower 2010
I didn't take this photo - but the large one I saw looked just like this. |
Another exciting event of the heavens unfolded this morning... the Geminid Meteor Shower paid a visit early today, showering the skies with around 50 - 120 brightly colored meteors that illuminated the sky in such a majestic manner. I've never made a point to be up for something like this, so I figured why not? Well... God blessed me with seeing a few of these amazing sights, but unfortunately living in a high rise condo in the middle of downtown Orlando doesn't allow for much star gazing. The lights from the city were too bright, and the way my condo was positioned didn't allow for a full panoramic view of the sky. A lot of the meteors tha tI saw were faint and looked far away... but there was one magical one that literally made my heart race. It was so bright and big that it looked at first to be something falling out of the sky (and because at this point I was snuggled in my bed, which happens to have an amazing view with two walls being ceiling to floor windows, I at first thought it was something falling off the top of our condo). It was amazing. I wish I had a clearer view to see all of them, as many are supposed to be brightly colored as opposed to the typical white (and I did see a few of those but they were faint), but I'm thankful for what I saw. Glad I woke up an hour earlier to get my workout in and enjoy the show.
