Jingle Bell Run 5K
Three weekends in a row I've now done a 5K... and I'm super psyched that each run resulted in my time improving. This morning's Jingle Bell Run was an interesting one with lots a of firsts. The run was in Baldwin Park. Who knew I'd never been in Baldwin Park!? It's simply gorgeous! The race started off high energy and lots of red and green with jingle bells ringing everywhere. The race raised money for the Arthritis Foundation. So many small kids suffer with arthritis... its simply heart breaking. And then we were off! The race route was an interesting one... sidewalks, and through neighborhoods and parks. I wasn't sure how my time would end up... I felt like I was slower than normal. Then it started to drizzle. It actually felt nice... cool and light. That's where the nice ended. Let's just say I ended the raise completely soaking wet, my sneakers sloshing with each step, my santa hat wilted to the side with water drops dripping methodically into my eyes... oh, and my mascara decoratively sliding down my cheeks. But... I shaved an entire minute off my finishing time. Maybe that rain motivated me a little more!?
