Limousine Great Race/Scavenger Hunt of Washington, D.C.
When Missy and Leslie found this online I wasn’t sure what I thought about it… careening about the District with strangers in a limo chasing clues with competing teams doing the same. But in pursuit of new experiences we all decided it would be a fun new adventure so we jumped in with both feet. It was a blast! There were three teams of ten, each getting their own limo and driver for the four-hour scavenger hunt. Each team is given a list of items to retrieve and pictures to take from various locations around Washington. The list also contains locations where each team must check in by a certain time. Each team should take whatever items it has found and proceed to that location by the designated time. If you’re late, you lose points. Teams are not expected to retrieve all of the items listed but you do your best!
Our team was a melting pot of ages, personalities and skillsets. Starting off as strangers, we quickly warmed up to one another and jumped into the competitive mindset. Hopping on and off the limo, running into grocery stores snapping photos and pharmacies scouring for treasures… we ended the adventure laughing, sharing some great stories and just ready for a cocktail. It was a fun way to "tour" Washington’s most interesting places. If you want to make new friends (especially in your own city as many were locals) and do something completely different.. I’d definitely recommend it. The link for the company who hosted our scavenger hunt is listed here: http://www.thingstododc.com/
One of our first challenges was getting certain items from a grocery store.. Wholefoods was the target and the customers at the meat counter found humor in our requests
Cheese! Lots of photos were required with certain people.. we got creative (though didn't earn all the points we attempted to)
The big sister bossy side of me came out half-way through.. the more everyone else drank the less they focused so my competitive edge kicked in and I took over our list of items needed
In the limo.. getting all creative with our photos (3 hours in and getting way to comfortable with the team)
Many challenges had to do with drawing.. thankfully someone else claimed the artist title. This was our team at the DMV wearing our under-roos with Todd Palin surfing in on our banana. Don't ask... but Brian did a great job! : )
Night wrapped up at a local brewery.. here I'm drinking a mini-beer... I look like a giant!
