SkyVenture Orlando - Indoor SkyDiving

By 9:08 AM

In flight!

So for this “challenge” I don’t really have a bucket list of even an idea of what my new experiences will be… but skydiving is something that I decided I wanted to do this year. With the cooler temps I figured indoor skydiving would be a good first step so Kelli and I ventured out to SkyVenture off International Drive on Tuesday to throw ourselves into the wind so to speak. SkyVenture is as close as you will get to actually skydiving without jumping out of an airplane. It’s realistic environment appeals to professional skydivers who practice their moves in the tunnel and also double as staff instructors. We lucked out with Joe (as signed on our certificates “The Joe Show”) who was simple fabulous. He also tandems at the Titusville SkyDiving location (which happens to be where we plan to actually skydive next month). Joe ran through the instructions for us, teaching us hand moves to follow in the wind tunnel, how to position our body in flight, how to enter and exit the tunnel and just some helpful tips.

We suited up in the flight suit, earplugs, goggles and helmet (super sexy – check out the pics) and snapped a few photos of our hot selves before heading to the tunnel. Gotta say… I wasn’t nervous at all. I was a little surprised by that. I was ready to fly!!! So a real sky dive is about 40-60 seconds, and our rotation in the tunnel was a full minute, two separate times. So basically it was like skydiving twice. The nice part is its all air time – no airplane jumps or hard landing on the ground. Who Hoo!! It was awesome! There is no way to explain the feeling.. its like surfing on air.. manipulating the wind with your body to direct yourself either higher or lower or to the right or left. Adjusting your position controls where you go and how you move. It’s just awesome. I gotta say it’s also the BEST workout. I’m so sore today and every little muscle feels like it got an intense workout. Think about it.. you can get that intense of a workout in 2 minutes?! Sign me up! I’ll save thousands of hours at the gym each year.

SkyVenture is safe for everyone and the youngest allowed is 3 years old (would LOVE to see that!). Experience is not needed but you do have to be adventurous and have the mindset that you are going to have fun. Stop, breathe and just lean into the wind. You’ll love it, I promise! Next stop for Kelli and I is the real thing – SkyDiving!

If you want to try SkyVenture, here is their website. I definitely recommend it: http://www.skyventureorlando.com
