Rock Climbing Wall

By 11:07 AM

As a kid I climbed trees and fences so I figured I'd be a shoe-in to tackle a rock wall. Our TN attraction has a rock wall as one of our larger exhibits, and yet three years later I still had never tried it! Well, in front of my entire staff on stage I shared with them my "challenge" and subsequently received an overwhelming amount of encouragement to try the the rock climbing wall (and the 360 bike - see other post). Being the fearless person that I am, I strapped on the harness and safety helmet (having enough junk in my trunk to fill a station wagon, the harness was not as attractive as I'd have hoped) and got ready to scale the wall. I drug our GM into the adventure with me and off we went. Being a rock wall virgin, I took a little longer than she did but I made it to the top of the wall within moments. What a fun workout that was! I can see how rock climbing is a great cardio workout... may add that to my travel workouts during my next trip into town. Scaling back down the wall is another story.. clumsy me hit my kneecap against one of the rocks on the way down. That didn't feel terrific. Oh well... I'm glad I tried it. I'm also glad that the staff found it hilarious enough to come out and surround the area with camera phones.
