Graffiti Junktion - Sunday Funday

By 9:38 AM

Have to say, there are few places on "my list" for this 365 Challenge but Graffiti Junktion was one listed several months ago after hearing so many friends talk about it.  Besides the hype its also really close to my condo so I figured at some point in 2010 I'd make it over there.  Well, Sunday I grabbed lunch with some friends and as luck would have it we found ourselves here.  The location is rumored to be cursed hence the graveyard of so many well-intentioned places before it.  The place resembles an abandoned building taken over and decorated by a talented crew. Doors have been ripped off their hinges, windows removed, graffiti sprayed onto the walls and comfy furnishing have been swapped out for doodled-on picnic tables. The scene reminds me of something out of a modern-day version of West Side Story. It's said to have the best burgers in town... but I'm a turkey-burger sorta-gal and its hard to please me with these.  So I definitely wouldn't go so far to call them the best burgers in town (friends with me agreed) as they were greasy and soggier than we'd have liked them.  The fries were also overcooked and tasteless.  But my assessment is this place is more about the atmosphere and entertainment than the food.  A very eclectic crowd gathered while we were there and granted even though it was raining on and off, that didn't seem to deter too many people.  I hear they hold some really fun events so I may be back to check those out.  All in all its a fun local neighborhood joint. www.graffitijunktion.com
