Sushi Hiro (Charleston, SC)
Yes... I love sushi. We all know that. So a long road trip to Myrtle Beach found me stopping in Charleston to grab a bite of dinner and of course the GPS lady made a fabulous recommendation for sushi. I never know what to expect when entering a sushi restaurant and American staff greets and serves me... there is something that feels wrong with that. It's like a Chinese restaurant being completely run by Irish people. Doesn't seem to feel right to me. Anyway, this time I was pleasantly surprised. The sushi was good (though the rolls were smaller than what I'm used to Orlando) and the miso soup was out of this world. I even tried something completely new for me... Hijiki salad. It's like seaweed salad but tastes like dirt (sorry - wasn't a fan of this particular new experience) combined with sardines. Apparently this is the only true sushi restaurant in downtown Charleston. It was a great choice.
I know... looks like I just pulled something out of my nose. But this was right before I tried the Hijiki salad. The smile faded quickly after that. :) |
